Astaire + Powell = Amazing

So I am researching a new novel, which I plan to set in the golden years of Hollywood, and I came across this video of Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell dancing their way through a song that I’d only ever heard before on The Rocketeer, (sung fantastically by Melora Hardin who played quirky, flawed Jan on The Office. ) And I fell in love.

I’m not a dancer, though I wish I was. Have always wished I was. In my non-existent spare time I dream of taking lessons but what I really want is the Trinity/helicopter scene in The Matrix. Remember when she needs to learn how to fly a helicopter? One quick download into her brain, and bam! She’s flying it, in a hail of bullets no less.

Since that won’t happen any time soon, I will content myself with watching videos like this one, when dancing was still in the movies, and it was filmed in soft tones with a big band sound and swishy dresses and starched tuxedos and Fred Astaire actually looked quite handsome. Don’t you just love it? Tell me you do…

p.s. This (at left) is me…dance

They make it look so effortless… I would be gasping for air within 5 seconds, providing I could even make my feet move that fast! I look forward to this next book, Sue… it sounds like a great backdrop for another wonderful story!

I am really enjoying the theme/design of your blog. Do you ever run into
any web browser compatibility issues? A number of my blog readers
have complained about my website not working correctly in Explorer but looks
great in Firefox. Do you have any recommendations to
    help fix this problem?
